  • What is Coaching

Coaching is a partnership in which one human being supports and holds the highest intention of possibility for another human being.

There are many kinds of coaches: sports coaches, life coaches., financial coaches, and success coaches. When you go to see a coach, they have some sort of familiarity with the field in which you want to improve. They have probably been trained in a set of tools that allow them to facilitate the pursuit of excellence in that area. But the coach doesn't need to be an expert in the field to be a good at coaching. In fact, a basketball coach could coach a team to excellence, to winning the NBA Championship, and the coach might not be nearly as good a basketball player as any of the team members.

Coaches partner with clients to identify fulfilling goals in their personal and professional life and develop plans to achieve these goals. Coaches are trained to listen, observe, and to elicit solutions and strategies from their clients. They believe their clients are naturally creative and resourceful. A coach provides a place for clients to be held accountable to themselves by guiding the client’s progression towards their goals. Together the coach and client evolve and modify the plan to best suit the client's needs.

  • What are the differences between Counselling or Coaching?

There are large overlaps between what Coaching and Counselling offers you, however, the broad differences are:

Counselling is less goal-oriented and more focused on healing the Past so as to recreate the Present.  We may work with and explore fears and anxieties, and anything that is blocking you from having the sort of life you desire. We may use a range of modalities such as NLP, Hypnosis, EFT, body work and philosophical and spiritual discussion.

Coaching is more focused on the Present and the Future and more oriented on projects or goals or skills and what you are ‘doing' as a person.

Frances, your LoveCoach, tends to use a mixture of coaching and counselling - depending on your needs.

  • How about Couple counselling ?

Couple Counselling falls into both categories.

Your LoveCoach offers you either Coaching or Counselling or a mixture of both - depending on your needs.

  • What happens during a session?

Your first session is a great opportunity for you to decide if the therapist/coach is the right one for you. Ask as many questions as you like. At the end, we will explore if you would like further sessions, and for what duration etc.

  • Can we do phone or skype sessions?

Sessions are traditionally done face to face. However, depending on your circumstances, it may suit you better to have phone or skype sessions. Payment is in advance by credit card or paypal.

  • How long are sessions?

Sessions are conducted in blocks of 1 hour

    - if preferred you can also book 0.5, 1.5, 2 or 3 hours per session

Sessions with Couples or Family Mediation are normally 1.5 hours

  • How long will I need to come to sessions for?

How long is a piece of string ;-) This all depends on what you are here for. Some people have only 1 session and they are totally satisfied. Other people really commit to their growth and attend for years. In general 6 - 10 sessions is the average. Most couples need a minimum of 8 to 20 sessions to make a lasting difference.

Time heals all wounds" - Right? Not always !! If a wound is not attended to properly when it first happens, it can heal badly, and come back to cause problems later on.

    Also...
If something is troubling you, it's true, it may eventually right itself - Counselling and Coaching however, will tend to shorten the time to solve the situation and teach you the awareness to not repeat it again.

  • What Do Counsellors Do?

    • They listen attentively.
They explore options with you.
    • They do not tell you what you have to do,
or suddenly make your life magically better; YOU do that.
    • They teach you skills in thinking and planning,
or learning more effectively.
    • They create a place for you to feel what you need to feel in safety.
    • They may give you things to do or practice in between sessions.
    • They may highlight ways you are thinking which do not support you.
    • They acknowledge and support your thoughts and feelings.
    • They may assist you to explore and better understand your past.
    • They may assist you to explore and better understand your future.
    • They listen

Positive change occurs when there is:

    Willingness

    Awareness

    Choice (skills)

    Support

    Accountability
